Planning for Archives Project Workshops

Planning for Archives Project Workshops (ALGAO Members only)

Following on from the Planning for Archives survey that ALGAO England conducted on behalf of Historic England, we are conducting two workshops discussing the results of the survey, the key themes that have emerged and take a look at potential solutions for issues with planning and archaeological archives.

This workshop will cover:

  • Digital archiving – What do we do, who’s responsibility is it and how do we track it.
  • Communication issues between Local Authorities and archive repositories/museums.
  • The use of Briefs and WSI’s for managing archaeological archiving.
  • Transfer of Title issues.
  • Archaeological archiving and Local Plans.
  • Maintaining planning conditions until the archive process is complete and enforcement issues.

Along with ALGAO England members, a representative from each of the following organisations has been invited to attend: Historic England’s Archive Working Group, Archaeology Data Service (ADS), Society of Museum Archaeologists (SMA), Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) and Federation of Archaeological Mangers and Employers (FAME).

London – Tuesday 2 October, 11:30 -15:00, Canada Water Culture Space, 21 Surrey Quays, London, SE16 7AR

York – Friday 5 October, 11:30 -15:00, King’s Manor, Exhibition Square, University of York, York, YO1 7EP

Lunch will be provided at both workshops.
